(PORTLAND, Ore., Feb. 23, 2011)-Medical Teams International announced today it received a $10,000 grant from the Nike Employee Grant Fund of the Oregon Community Foundation (OCF). The funds will be used to provide free dental care to low-income, uninsured children in Oregon.
'This contribution from the Nike Employee Grant Fund will help ensure that disadvantaged children in Oregon receive the essential dental care they need,' said Bas Vanderzalm, President of Medical Teams International. 'We are grateful for the support of the Nike Employee Grant Fund, coming at a time when more families than ever need our help.'
In 2010, Medical Teams International's Mobile Dental program provided care for more than 17,000 low-income children and adults. Nearly 900 volunteer dental professionals provided approximately $7 million worth of free dental care last year.
