Medical Teams International is hosting a Forum on Libya: The Humanitarian Perspective from 10-11:30 a.m., October 10 at the Cowles Auditorium, Humphrey School of Public Affairs, 301 19th Ave. S., Minneapolis, Minn. 55455.
Since spring, Medical Teams International has worked with Libyan-Americans around the U.S-including those from the Minneapolis area - to send volunteer medical teams and medical supplies to those suffering in the conflict in Libya.
Key leaders at the forum, including invited guest Rep Keith Ellison (D-Minn.), will focus on the humanitarian consequences caused by the recent unrest in Libya. They also will discuss how humanitarian aid organizations are responding to those needs with the help of Libyan-American citizens.
The forum will feature an insider report from founding board member of the Libyan Council of North America, Jamal Tarhuni. This Libyan-American businessman from Portland, Ore., has served as a volunteer to bring aid into Libya on behalf of Medical teams International.
